Free parking is provided inside the building for treatment appointments.  This is located on level 2 and can be accessed directly from 20th Avenue.  

It is your responsibility to organise your transport to treatment even if it means travelling outside of your community.

Volunteer Drivers

The volunteer driving service is delivered by registered volunteer drivers who gift their time and use their own vehicle to provide transport for cancer patients to cancer related appointments.

The Cancer Society offer this service for people undergoing cancer treatment who are unable to drive, do not have their own transport, or do not have family, whānau or friends to take them.

With appropriate notice (2 working days minimum) a volunteer driver can be arranged through the Cancer Society if you require transport to the Kathleen Kilgour Centre from Tauranga, Te Puke and Katikati.

St john health shuttle service

The St John Health Shuttle is a donation-based community service that transports people to health-related visits, and then brings them home again.  This service is staffed by trained St John volunteers.

Some shuttle vehicles are fitted with hoists to help passengers who have restricted mobility.

Travel Assistance

If you, or a family member, need to travel long distances - or frequently - to see a specialist, then you may be eligible for help with expenses under the Ministry of Health's National Travel Assistance Scheme. These expenses may include travel, accommodation and support person costs.
